When spontaneity becomes discovery
One evening after work, I was walking around Manhattan without a particular goal. I wanted something unusual, but I didn’t know what exactly. Cafes and bars weren’t inspiring. And then my gaze fell on a theater poster. A lightning thought – why not go to a performance right now?
I took out my phone, quickly typed it into the search, and almost immediately came to a convenient website where all the performances in the city were collected. I opened the section of today's shows - and here, 30 minutes before the start, I was already standing in the foyer, the tickets were bought online. There was even a discount, since the seat was closer to the beginning of the row.
I got to see a performance I had never heard of - a chamber comedy with sharp humor and an unexpected plot twist. It was a real discovery. For the first time in a long time, I felt emotions goosebumps.
After this incident, I began to trust spontaneity more often - but only when Theater Guide is at hand. It helps to make a quick decision and not get lost in the huge theater sea of New York. Now, if I don’t know what to do in the evening, I go there. And almost always I leave with a ticket, and return with impressions.
I’ve been stuck in the routine of cafes and Netflix for too long, but the way you describe it, grabbing a random ticket sounds almost like an adventure game in real life. It actually reminds me of playing Tunnel Rush — fast, unpredictable, but incredibly rewarding if you just go with it.
